Signs You Have Mice & Rats
Every fall, mice and rats across Nova Scotia move indoors in search of warmth, shelter, and food. Beyond contamination, rodents can damage insulation and chew electrical wiring, creating a potential fire risk.
Trapping alone doesn’t solve the problem — exclusion does.
At Scotia Pest Solutions, we don’t just control rodents. We identify how they’re getting in and provide professional rodent-proofing solutions designed to keep them out long term.
How We Treat It
Inspect & Identify
We confirm the pest, find where it’s getting in, and assess how far the problem has spread.
Targeted Treatment
We combine tamper-resistant bait stations and traps with our rodent-proofing service sealing entry points as small as a dime so the problem doesn’t come back.
Seal & Prevent
We close entry points and correct the conditions that attracted the pest in the first place.
Follow Up & Guarantee
Our services include applicable guarantees for added peace of mind. If you need us again within the guarantee period, we’re happy to come back and follow up.
Common Questions
Mice or Rats – How Can I Tell?
Mice leave small, rice-sized droppings (about 3–6 mm), while rats leave much larger, capsule-shaped droppings (about 12–20 mm). Rats are also more likely to leave greasy rub marks along walls and larger gnaw marks.
Both mice and rats chew constantly to keep their teeth worn down. They can damage wood, plastic, electrical wiring, and even plastic water lines—including PEX tubing and dishwasher supply lines—potentially leading to costly water damage.
Our inspection identifies the species, locates entry points, and provides a customized treatment and prevention plan to keep rodents out.
Do you offer rodent-proofing repairs?
Yes pest-proofing and clean-up repairs are one of our core services, including our Mouse Free RV program.
Will one treatment fix it?
Rodents are a pressure problem. We remove the current population and seal entries; ongoing protection plans are available for high-pressure rural properties.
